International Training in Anthroposophic Midwifery (ITAM)

Admission Requirements and Application Process

Participation in the ITAM program requires:

  1. Proof of a professional qualification in accordance with the ITAM admission criteria.

  2. For direct admission to the midwifery-specific modules:

    Successful completion of the Foundation Studies program or an equivalent, recognized foundation training program in Anthroposophic Medicine.

    Otherwise, the program begins with the Foundation Studies program.

  3. Letter of Motivation (one page).

  4. Successful application and admission.

  • The program is designed for qualified midwives and birth professionals who wish to enhance their practice through an integrative and holistic approach to care.

    In detail: ITAM is designed forcertified midwiveswho:

    • A degree in midwifery or a combined nursing–midwifery degree (ISCED 5–8, at least 3 years), or

    • A midwifery certification in Traditional and Complementary Medicine (WHO) (same level/duration)

    Also eligible:

    • Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs):may participate asguestswithout a college degree (attendance certificate only; no AMid certificate)

    • Related health professionals:may apply for guest status if their work is related to the peripartum period and they can demonstrate relevant experience (decision made by the course leadership)

  • To make our courses accessible worldwide, fees are scaled according to the World Bank income groups (determined by each country’s GNI per capita: low-income countries, lower-middle-income countries, upper-middle-income countries, and high-income countries) and are based on the participant’s country of residence. To facilitate global access, fees are adjusted according to the World Bank’s income groups and are based on the participant’s country of residence.

Applications are submitted online. Applicants must provide a completed application form, a letter of motivation, and all required supporting documents in PDF format. Documents may be submitted in German, English, French, or Spanish.

Depending on their qualifications, applicants may be admitted either as regular participants (with the possibility of earning the Certificate in Anthroposophic Midwifery) or as guest participants.

Participation in the program begins upon admission and payment of the course fee.
